Civil Courts are presided over by Judges (District Judges and Magistrates) who handle cases and review evidence in open court. After hearing evidence and arguments presented by parties or lawyers, the Judges make a decision on the case and issue the Judgment on the matter through an Order of Court.
A Magistrates’ Court has handles cases involving an amount up to a maximum of $60,000.
A District Court has handles cases involving an amount between $60,000 and $250,000. The District Court can handle cases of road traffic accident claims or claims for personal injuries resulting from industrial accidents involving amounts up to a maximum of $500,000.
