What are the documents that you need to submit for a Civil trial?

by | Feb 18, 2019 | Blog

The key documents that need to be submitted to the Court and the opposing party for a Civil trial generally include the following:

  • Affidavits of Evidence-In-Chief and Bundle of Documents: you must submit originals of the Affidavit of Evidence-In-Chief (AEIC) of all the witnesses and a bundle of the main documents that will be relied on or referred to at the trial by any party. The key documents used by the parties in the case should also be contained in a common bundle of core documents that will be discussed and agreed upon between the parties beforehand.
  • Opening statement: This summarises and states your case in the party’s case in a nutshell, both on the facts and law.
  • Bundle of Authorities: This contains all the legal cases and authorities (e.g. cases, statutes, subsidiary legislation, reference materials) which you are relying on to support the arguments being made in your Opening Statement and at the trial.
